Welcome to Barefield NS
Barefield National School has a distinguished history in the field of Education. Since 1895, it has been a progressive centre of innovation and excellence in teaching and learning.
Our children have access to fantastic facilities. We have sixteen mainstream classrooms, a special class and two multi-sensory rooms for children with autism, six support teaching rooms, a large school hall, library, astro-turf pitch, basketball yard, two playing pitches and spacious yards. All classrooms have the latest flat-panel interactive boards.

Thursday 24th of September was a very special day as we officially opened our new Safe Route to School, providing our pupils with a safe and accessible walking route from Hassetts Bar to Barefield NS.
We also celebrated the official opening of our new mainstream classroom and two new SET rooms, providing additional and much-needed spaces to support teaching, learning and inclusion in our school.
Today was a wonderful reminder of the rich history of our school, with so much history contained within our school buildings. From the original school building, dating back to 1895 and now home to the Community Centre, to the school extensions in 1995, 2011 and now 2026, each chapter has added to the story of our school and our community.
It was particularly special to have Fr Tom Doora Barefield Parish with us to bless our new facilities and mark this important occasion.
